Terradynamics of Legged Locomotion on Granular Media (posted 2013-05-13)

SICB members Chen Li, Tingman Zhang, and Daniel Goldman developed a force model for arbitrarily-shaped legs and bodies moving freely in granular media to predict the locomotion of a small legged robot on granular media. The work, published in Science, has received attention in the press (redOrbit, R&D Magazine, Wired). Videos of the work can be found on the Georgia Tech News Room.
