Description: The Teets Lab at University of Kentucky is seeking a full-time laboratory technician senior to assist with operations in an insect physiology and genetics lab. The primary responsibilities of the laboratory technician senior include fly rearing, setting up experiments, data collection, and general laboratory maintenance. The technician will also serve as the de facto lab manager and be responsible for inventory management, ordering supplies, and working with the principal investigator (Dr. Teets) to ensure the lab is compliant with University and Federal regulations. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work towards an advanced degree in Entomology while serving as the technician, if desired.

Skills: Previous laboratory experience, computer literacy, good organizational skills, and ability to work as part of a team are highly desired. Previous experience working with insects (especially fly husbandry) and basic skills in experimental design and data collection are a plus.

Qualifications: A BS in Biology, Entomology, or a related discipline is required.

Start Date and Compensation: The position is available to start immediately or as mutually agreed upon.
